It’s been … how many years?... since we wrote our last newsletter. We can blame it on many things but we won’t go there. Frankly, the years just rolled by.

Eyan
Eyan is 10 and in 5th grade. He goes to Christa McAuliffe Elementary School literally across the street from our house. He can hear the bell and then walk to school. He’s enjoyed attending this alternative public school which focuses on child centered learning. No homework, no tests, no grades… what’s there not to like. This will be his last year at McAuliffe. Next year, his four year vacation is over and he goes to a regular middle school with the overachieving Cupertino kids. Eyan plays piano.. reluctantly. Eyan also plays soccer, basketball and computer games... enthusiastically. He was introduced to indoor soccer this winter and loves the game.

Ethan and Elin
Elin and Ethan are 6 and in 1st grade. They are in another alternative program in our public school system; they are in a language immersion (bi-lingual) program. So, they get a mixture of Mandarin and English in the normal school day. Their Chinese is now better than their parents’ and they know it.

Elin goes for gymnastics lessons and loves every minute of it. She’s quite a “monkey” on those bars. She likes to sing, dance and be in a play. She is also quite a socialite.

Ethan sticks to soccer in the Fall/Spring and basketball in the Winter. His asthma and eczema are still bothering him. Our medicine cabinet looks like a pharmacy. And he is still very much in touch with his feelings.

Parents
LeeMin is still at Intel. Looking forward to her sabbatical this summer. Cheng Hwee is with Anchor Bay Technologies, a startup he co-founded with a few of his cohorts from DVDO.

Trips
We have been visiting Malaysia every couple of years. The last major trip was in December, 2003. We spent 3 weeks in Malaysia, up and down the East and West coasts, visiting our extended family. It was good to see everyone and reminisce. Wish we could make these trips more frequently.

Both sets of grandparents were visited us in Summer 2004. The kids had a blast – they were spoilt rotten, and we could not complain either - dinner on the table when we got home.

We visited LA, Phoenix, the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and Las Vegas over the Christmas break. The kids behaved very well eventhough the drive was very long. The portable DVD player really helped.

We plan to spend the summer of 2005 in Malaysia. Can’t wait!
